Health Gurujan
Privacy Policy
Health Gurujan is a personal and family health record organiser. This policy explains what data the app handles, what stays on your device, what is sent to our servers only when you choose to use an optional feature, and the rights and choices you have. We designed the app to be offline-first: the core app works with no account and no network connection.
1. Who we are
Health Gurujan is built and operated by IT Gurujan (an independent developer studio, India). For any privacy question or request you can contact us at shyamsundersahani01@gmail.com.
2. Data that stays only on your device
The following is stored locally on your phone (in the app's private storage) and is never transmitted to us unless you explicitly turn on Cloud Backup (section 4) or an AI feature (section 5):
- Family profiles you create (names, and any relationship/label you add).
- Doctors, visits, lab tests and results, medicines, bills, and health documents.
- Photos, PDFs and files you attach to any of the above.
- Reminders, notes, spending figures, and the in-app history/audit log.
- App settings, including any API keys you enter yourself.
Because this data lives only on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it permanently. Keep a backup (section 4) before switching phones.
Document scanning (OCR)
When you scan a document, text recognition runs entirely on your device using Google ML Kit's on-device model. The image and the extracted text are not sent anywhere.
3. Google Sign-In (optional)
Signing in with Google is optional and is only needed for the multi-device features (Cloud Backup and the AI assistant). If you sign in, Google provides us with, and we store on our server:
- Your Google account email address and display name.
- Your Google account identifier and, if available, profile picture URL.
- Timestamps for your first sign-in and most recent activity.
We use this only to identify your account, associate your cloud backups with you, and apply your storage quota. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not access your Gmail, Contacts, Drive, or any other Google service. You can use the entire app without ever signing in.
4. Cloud Backup (optional, off by default)
If you enable Cloud Backup, the app packages your selected profile data into a backup file and uploads it to our server at health.itgurujan.com. Then:
- Backup files are stored in a non-public location on the server and are only retrievable by you (through your signed-in account) or, for support purposes, by the operator.
- We store backup metadata (file size, timestamp, your user ID) to manage storage and quotas. Free accounts get 50 MB of total backup storage; premium accounts get 200 MB.
- Backups are transmitted over HTTPS.
- You can delete your backups at any time from the app or by contacting us; deletion removes the file and its metadata from the server.
If you never enable Cloud Backup, none of your health records leave your device.
5. AI assistant features (optional)
The app offers optional AI-assisted features — such as a diet-plan helper, a lab-report explainer, and a medicine safety check. When you actively use one of these, the specific information needed for that request (for example: a test name and the report text you paste, or the medicine names you enter) is sent over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. This happens only when you tap to use the feature; the app does not send your data to any AI service in the background. Usage is rate-limited per account. Google processes this data as our sub-processor under Google's API terms; we do not use it to train any model.
These features are informational only and are not medical advice. Always consult a qualified professional.
6. Medicine information lookup (optional, your own key)
If you configure the "Medicine Info Source" in Settings with your own Google API key and Custom Search Engine ID, the app queries Google's Custom Search API directly from your device using your credentials. We do not receive or store these requests or your key. If you don't configure it, the feature is inactive.
7. Permissions the app may request
- Camera — to photograph documents and reports (only when you choose to).
- Photos / storage — to attach existing images and files, and to save exports/backups.
- Contacts — only if you choose to pick a doctor's details from your contacts.
- Notifications — to show medicine and visit reminders you set.
- Internet — for Google Sign-In, Cloud Backup, and AI features only.
You can decline any permission and keep using the rest of the app.
8. Data we do not collect
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell or share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers. There is no ad tracking in the app.
9. Data retention
- On-device data: kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Account record (email, name): kept while your account exists; removed on account-deletion request.
- Cloud backups: kept until you delete them or request account deletion.
10. Deleting your data
In the app: delete individual records, profiles, or backups directly. Uninstalling removes all local data.
Full account deletion: email shyamsundersahani01@gmail.com from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my Health Gurujan account". We will delete your account record and all cloud backups within 30 days and confirm by reply.
11. Children
The app is intended for adults managing health records (their own and, at their discretion, their family's, including minors). It is not directed at children for independent use, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children.
12. Security
Network traffic uses HTTPS. Server-side backup files are stored outside the public web root and served only through an authenticated path. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
